C-Tech Corporation (Head office: Midori-ku, Nagoya; President: Daisuke Shimohiro; hereinafter "C-Tech"), a Chubu Electric Power Group company, today announced the result of the business feasibility reassessment for the domestic offshore wind power generation project. C-Tech has established the project companies each in the following three sea areas (Note) through a consortium led by Mitsubishi Corporation Offshore Wind Ltd. (hereinafter "Mitsubishi Corporation Offshore Wind"), and has been proceeding with the development of offshore wind farms as a power generator. However, in response to changes in the business environment that exceeded initial forecasts at the time of public offering participation, we have been working to reassess the project's feasibility. Based on Mitsubishi Corporation Offshore Wind's intentions following this reassessment and discussions among the project partners, we have concluded that continuing the project is difficult. We take very seriously the fact that we were unable to meet the expectations of the local community and all concerned parties. (Note)Off the coast of Noshiro City, Mitane Town, and Oga City in Akita Prefecture / Off the coast of Yurihonjo City in Akita Prefecture / Off the coast of Choshi City in Chiba Prefecture This will result in an estimated loss of approximately 17 billion yen in our consolidated income and loss statement for the fiscal year ending March 2026. As a hybrid dam initiative, a trial for enhanced water level operation that contributes to power generation was conducted for the first time (Note 1) at the Yahagi Dam, which is managed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. After the outflow of water on July 16 to 17, 2025, stable weather conditions continued, and the trial operation of enhanced water level management was conducted. Compared to normal operation at Chubu Electric Power's Yahagi No. 1 Hydraulic Power Station, approximately 1.79 million m3 of water could be effectively utilized. As a result of this effective utilization, there was an increase in electricity generation of approximately 321 MWh, which is equivalent to the amount of electricity consumed by approximately 1,240 households in one month (Note 2).Going forward, the two parties will continue to collaborate and contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society by effectively utilizing limited water resources. (Note1) The Yahagi Dam has been involved in trials of enhanced water level operation that contributes to power generation since the 2023 outflow period, and this is the first time that such trial operations have been implemented. (Note2) Calculated based on the monthly electricity consumption of an average household being 260 kWh. (Note) The results are preliminary and may be subject to change due to further scrutiny. Trial of enhanced water level operation that contributes to power generation It is an initiative that uses the latest weather forecasting technology to store water in the dam reservoir without interfering with flood response after flood control or outflows that do not lead to flooding. The water is then released for effective power generation at the adjacent power station. Initiatives in the Carbon Neutral (CN) Project on Yahagi River and Toyogawa River This enhanced water level operation is one of the initiatives in the CN Project on Yahagi River and Toyogawa River promoted by Aichi Prefecture.

Kushiro Wood Products, established by Cypress Sunadaya and …link.gif 2025

Cypress Sunadaya Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Saijo, Ehime; President: Yutaro Sunada), which is a group company of Obayashi Corporation (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO, Representative Director: Toshimi Sato), and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Headquarters: Higashi-ku, Nagoya; President & Director: Kingo Hayashi), announced in a press release dated July 1, 2024, that the two companies would begin preparations to launch a business for the production and sale of structural timber for residential use in Kushiro City, Hokkaido, with a target start date of April 2027. On November 26, 2024, we established a new company, Kushiro Wood Products Corporation ("Kushiro Wood Products"), thoroughly verified the business scheme, revised part of the plan, and decided to aim for commercial production to start in April 2028. Image of log yard (Photo: Cypress Sunadaya Toyo Industrial Park mill) 1 Current status of the domestic lumber market The domestic market for structural timber for residential use is dominated by foreign products in terms of price and strength. Because of this, even when the time comes to harvest Japan's abundant forest resources, most of them are not being put to effective use, limiting their contribution to the recycling of forest resources and the realization of a decarbonized society. In addition, many domestic laminated wood manufacturers rely on imports from Europe for their raw material, "laminar (sawn lumber)", and due to exchange rate fluctuations and the current uncertain global economic situation, it is difficult to predict stable procurement. 2 Overview of Business Scheme Kushiro Wood Products will establish Japan's largest sawmill in Hokkaido, equipped with European-made lumbering machinery and kiln dryer. It will manufacture laminar from Hokkaido-grown logs such as Todo-fir, which are of the same quality as imported wood, and sell it to domestic laminated wood manufacturers. In addition to laminar, the company plans to sell dimensional lumber (2 x 4 lumber) and other products manufactured at this mill to housing manufacturers and other customers. At the time of the announcement in July 2024, the initial plan was to establish a new laminated wood factory equipped with a laminated wood production line to mainly manufacture and sell laminar for residential structures, in addition to the above-mentioned sawmill. However, after verifying the profitability of the business, it was decided not to establish the laminated wood factory and instead to specialize in the manufacture and sale of laminar and dimension lumber. Left: Todo-fir laminar for laminated wood (main product) Right: Architectural rendering of lumber mill line In order to secure distribution volume and reduce costs, the mill will introduce large European-made machinery to enable mass production and stable supply. This will enhance its competitive advantage over imported woods in terms of quality, price, and distribution volume, leading to the promotion of domestic materials by housing manufacturers. We will engage in lumber business in Kushiro, Hokkaido, with the goal of expanding the domestic lumber market, thereby contributing to the realization of a decarbonized society, the preservation of forest cycles, and the revitalization of the local economy.
